London: Dent, 1906. Full vellum, 7.5 inches tall. A delightful copy of this scarcer title from the 'The series of English Idylls' collection. With 24 colour plates by C. E. Brock. An unusually nice 'unbowed' example

London: Printed for the author, 1825. A stunning binding from the library of Lord Eldon, Lord Chancellor and in a uniform binding with our Soames History of the Reformation in our stock. Full straight grain morocco, 8.5 inches tall. With very wide raised gilt bands, superb extra gilt panels and tooling to the boards, dentelles and all edges. As is usual with this colour some blotching has occured over the years. On the title page volume 2 is stated and neatly crossed out and we are under the impression that this is the only volume published, as it contains a list of subscribers.

Paris: Ollendorff, 1897. Half crushed morocco by Durvand, 7.5 inches tall. With raised bands, label and gilt top edge. The foredge has not been trimmed, causing a rather eccentric effect with some leaves extending about an inch further than others, a deluxe style of the period. There is an inscription from the author to an A.M.R. Rolo. A lovely. copy.

London: Strahan and Cadell, 1789. 2 volume set, 9 inches tall. Straight grain morocco with gilt raised bands, titles and delicate gilt and blind tooling to the panels. A particularly nice copy of this scarce work in a late 18th century binding.

London: W. Strange, 1847. Full calf, 2.5 inches tall. Charming tiny 'wallet' binding, somewhat rubbed but with no loss or splitting. Engraved title page and 3 full page illustrations. With vital information on the days of each month, London bankers, the language of flowers and the fashionable ballroom dances, amongst other subjects.

Paris: (Cosson for) Charles Gosselin and Ladvocat, 1821. 4 volume set, 7 inches tall. Quarter calf with twin labels and gilt centre tools.Waverley first appeared in French in 1818, before Scott attained celebrity in France and therefore now very rare. This reprint is for the first of Gosselin’s collected Oeuvres complètes.

Oxford: Rivington, 1810. Half morocco, 8.5 inches tall. A high quality binding with gilt raised bands and very finely gilt tooled panels. Ink owners name on the title page. Slight foxing and a tear in the gutter of the title page and first page of the preface, not affecting the text. A new and corrected edition.

London: Jones, 1825. Full calf, 3.75 inches tall. A fine tiny binding with gilt bands and panels, label and gilt and blind tooling to the boards. Engraved frontispiece and first title page. Slight scattered foxing and small tear to second title page, otherwise pristine.

London: Moxon, 1841. Full calf, 9.25 inches tall. With gilt raised bands, extra gilt panels, label and blind and gilt rolls framing the panels. Two parts bound in one, complete. With a Sketch of his Life by Thomas Noon Talfourd, one of his executors.

London: Frowde, 1908. Full calf, 7 inches tall. A classic tree calf by Galt with gilt raised bands, label and lovely floral gilt tooling to the panels. With a gilt prize armorial block on the upper board and prize bookplate. An extraordinarily advanced anthology of English verse for Children. Complete in 3 parts.

Paris: Charles Hingray, c.1840. Vellum, 4.5 inches tall. A delightful little volume in full vellum with red calf label, gilt pallets and pink edges. A charming work containing useful everyday phrases such as "I'd have killed myself, had I not been restrained by the remembrance of her", "Give me my drawers, stockings and pantaloons" and "Then I shall have spared that wretch but for my own ruin".
