With wide gilt raised bands, delicate and ornate gilt tooling to the panels, twin labels, dentelles and all edges gilt. Complete with 3 engraved title pages, portrait and 73 engraved plates after Le Barbier. There are an extra 18 stipple engraved plates and 70 highly decorative vignettes. Some speckling and scuffing to the boards. A super copy of this beautiful 18th century deluxe edition.

The Life of George Cruikshank.

A wonderful full crushed morocco binding by Riviere with gilt raised bands, very fine gilt tooling to the panels and with triple gilt fillets framing the boards. Gilt dentelles and top edges. With the armorial bookplates of W.H. Lever of Thornton Manor, Sir W. Hesketh Lever, Bart. and Baron, Lord Leverhulme of Bolton-Le Moors, all one and the same and the founder of 'Port Sunlight'. This beautiful set has an extra 89 plates, 34 hand-coloured, bound in, some particularly interesting ones, including Mr. Kean as Richard and as Count Bertram and 2 box tickets for His Majesty's Theatre. A unique set in pristine condition.

A glorious full morocco binding almost certainly by by The Harcourt Bindery of Boston with gilt raised bands and remarkable floral gilt tooling and onlays to the panels and boards. Wide gilt dentelles frame exquisite green crushed morocco doublures featuring a red rose. Watered silk free endpapers. All edges gilt. These two volumes, containing the works of Thomas Chatterton, were part of a deluxe set, the Crown Edition, of 'The Poets of Great Britain' originally published in 72 volumes. This extra-illustrated set in this splendid binding is believed to be number 1 of 10 such sets. Fine sets of Chatterton's Poetical Works are scarce.

The Complete Works of William Wordsworth.
London: Collins, c.1905. Half vellum, 7 1/2 inches tall. A very good looking Edwardian vellum binding decorated in the Art Nouveau style with a stylized gilt floral design and ornate label. With numerous illustrations and extra-illustrated with several original photographs dated May 1919 of the Lake District, one particularly picturesque image shows 'The Old Spinning Gallery' at Hartsop Patterdale. There is an ink inscription dated 1905 on the reverse of the free end paper.
