Fine sets of Greene's works are difficult to find, this set, bound in full calf by by Garss & Co. has gilt raised bands, fine twin labels and ornate and dense gilt tooling to the panels. Gilt dentelles and all edges. Two Bookplates. There are some dark marks on the boards and on the top edge of the boards which do not effect the shape of the books or the text blocks. With a life of the author by Alexander Dyce. This Elizabethan Playwright was very popular in his day, but is now best known for a posthumous pamphlet attributed to him, his 'Groats-Worth of Witte, bought with a million of Repentance', seen as an attack on William Shakespeare.
