With gilt dentelles and all edges. Slightly rubbed and darkened around the borders of the boards. Beautifully printed by Humphreys on handmade paper. A wonderful edition of this great devotional work.

A handsome set bound in full calf by Hayday with gilt raised bands, gilt and inked pallets and twin labels to the panels and twin gilt and a single blind fillet framing the boards. 2 portraits, 2 plates of 'Coins relating to the Age of Petrarch' and a sepia view of 'Fountain of Vaucluse and Castle of the Bishop of Cavaillon'. Bookplate on the reverse of the free endpaper of volume I. Some scuffing and scratching but overall a fine set of this life of Francesco Petrarca, scholar and poet of early 14th century Renaissance Italy.

Portland, Maine: Thomas B. Mosher, 1907. Full morocco, 7 inches tall. A fine binding for Hatchards of Piccadilly with raised bands and neat and simple gilt tooling framing the panels and boards, blind 'strapping' around the bands and onto the boards. Gilt title on the upper board. Handmade paper with gilt top edge and other edges left untrimmed. The bookplate of Gwendolyn Field and neat ink inscription, dated 1918, on the first blank. The spine is faded though still bright. A good looking copy of this fine edition of Shakespeare's sonnets.

London: J. and A Arch et al., 1837. Half calf 9 inches tall. An attractive and unusual binding by Mudie with wide gilt raised bands and blind tooling radiating from a gilt centre tool in the panels. Gilt top edge. Embellished with engraved vignettes. Bookplate.

London: Bradbury & Evans 1854-55. 2 volume set, 8 1/2 inches tall. A splendid full calf by Tout with gilt raised bands and very fine gilt tooling to the panels. Gilt dentelles and all edges. Rubbed on shoulders and some foxing, especially to the plates. Fine engraved illustrations by Richard Doyle throughout. A very smart copy of the first edition of this great Victorian novel.

First edition of this profusely illustrated fascinating study of the fashions of 1807 through examples from 24 fashion periodicals, all published in 1807. 37 fine plates. With extraordinary embroidered fabric labels from the cover and spine and a matching embroidered bookmark. An eccentric and charming work in pristine condition.

A charming fairy story, bound beautifully and illustrated with a frontispiece by Gilbert.

A beautiful little embossed calf binding by Wesley (with their stamp at the foot of the upper board), with floral blind tooling and gilt lettering to the spine and ornate blind tooling to the boards. All edges gilt. A neat ink inscription dated 1843 on the front free end paper. Engraved frontispiece, title page and 4 further plates. A lovely copy in excellent condition.

With an ornate bookplate and ink inscription on the bookplate. The Philobiblon is a series of essays discussing the love of books and sadness at their destruction, written by de Bury just before his death in 1345.
