La Henriade.
London: Charles C. Arnold, 1825. Full calf, 5.5 inches tall. A delightful little binding in full straight grain calf with gilt raised bands, twin labels and delicate gilt tooling to the panels. The boards framed within gilt fillets and a gilt roll. Engraved frontispiece. Neat ink inscription dated 1833 on first blank and previous owner's name on the title page, dated 1864. Voltaire's epic poem on the evils of religious extremism and civil disorder in French, printed and bound in England.

Les Deux Rives
Paris: Ollendorff, 1897. Half crushed morocco by Durvand, 7.5 inches tall. With raised bands, label and gilt top edge. The foredge has not been trimmed, causing a rather eccentric effect with some leaves extending about an inch further than others, a deluxe style of the period. There is an inscription from the author to an A.M.R. Rolo. A lovely. copy.
