A splendid Victorian full calf binding with gilt raised bands, label and ornate extra gilt panels. Gilt and blind fillets and corner tools frame the boards. There is a neat ink inscription 'on leaving Eton', dated 1865, on the first blank. Colour frontispiece. Francesco Sforza was the great 15th century military leader who founded the Sforza dynasty in the duchy of Milan.

Translated as "The Sunshade, Muff and Gloves" in English, this is his second book about fashion. Illustrated throughout by Paul Avril. The spine is slightly faded, but overall a fine example of the first French edition.
