New Travels into the Interior Parts of Africa.
London: Robinson, 1796. 3 volume set, 8.25 inches tall. A beautiful set of the first English edition in remarkably fine condition. In full 18th century cat's paw calf with twin labels and gilt bands. Blue edges. A neat ink inscription 'Marcus Gage' is on the top of the title pages. From the collection of Martin Orsky, a pencil inscription on the free endpaper states 'bound by Mackenzie of Dublin', though I can see no evidence for this assertion. A neat ink shelf number is on the pastedown endpapers. With the map and plates. As fine a copy of this work as one could hope to find.

A fabulously bound set with extraordinary gilt and white metal tooled spine and boards.the elaborate 'cathedral' design on all four boards is made up from individual tooling, as is the superb tooling on the spines. All edges gilt. Illustrated with 2 engraved titles and 106 full page engraved views and I folding map. Some foxing to the plates and slight fading to the spine, but still a fine and spectacular set.

The boards are magnificently tooled in blind and gilt. All edges gilt. There is a tiny amount of worming effecting the gutter of the front endpaper and preliminaries. With 60 splendid views and vignette on the title page. A superb example of this scarce work.

With an engraved title page and a further 64 plates which are unusually bright and clean.

A rare tall edition, with no text, in a spectacular binding.

London: Virtue, n.d. Quarter morocco, 11 inches tall. Easily taken as full morocco this is a quarter binding with leather spine and hard grain leather imitation cloth on the boards. With gilt raised bands, very fine 'Irish' gilt tooling to the panels. Gilt and blind tooling to the boards and all edges gilt. Most attractive gilt stamped endpapers. Neat ink inscription on first blank dated 'Dublin 1876'. With 119 of the 121 superb engraved plates, 'Clondalkin' and 'Interior of Holy Cross Abbey' apparently never bound in. Slight foxing but a splendid copy.
