London: Bickers, c.1865. Full morocco, 6 inches tall. A charming 'Oxford' or 'Divinity' binding with gilt titles and all edges and blind tooling. Embellished with full page engravings and vignettes throughout. Slight rubbing and spotting to the boards but overall a lovely volume bound by Bickers.

London: George Bell, 1892. Half morocco, 7 inches tall. A very neat half morocco by Sotheran with gilt raised bands, Aldine Leaf centre tools and gilt top edge. A charming copy of the poetical works of this great 17th century devotional poet.

London: Macmillan, 1867. Full crushed morocco, 6 inches tall. An elegant binding by Holloway with gilt raised bands, delicate gilt centre tools to the panels, dentelles and all edges. Two bookplates. An anthology of French poetry with the verse in the original French and the preface and notes in English. A delightful volume.

A very accomplished full calf by the great firm of Bedford with gilt raised bands, extra gilt to the panels, a double fillet framing the boards and all edges gilt. The bookplate of Rissa. Some fading. An engraved title page and 5 further full page engravings.

London: Macmillan, 1913. Full calf, 6 inches tall. A revised and enlarged edition in fine full calf by Truslove and Hanson with gilt raised bands and a splendid gilt flower bud on a cream calf onlay to the spine and boards. Gilt dentelles and all edges. A great anthology "selected from the best songs and lyrical poems in the English language".

A gilt fillet frames the boards, the upper of which has a handsome gilt prize block. On the first blank is a neat prize bookplate dated 1923. Light foxing particularly on the title page. Twenty of Shakespeare's most popular plays are summarised by Charles and Mary Lamb, several of which are illustrated.

London: Allen & Unwin, 1925. Full Calf, 8 1/2 inches tall. A sparkling tree calf by Bickers with gilt raised bands, contrasting twin labels and fine gilt tooling to the panels. A gilt roll frames the gilt prize block. Eton prize bookplate. A splendid copy of this great American history.

London: Smith, Elder, and Co., 1834. Half morocco, 6 1/2 inches tall. A pretty little binding with raised bands, gilt titles and top edge by Maclehose of Glasgow. From the Library of the Late Christopher Foyle of Beeleigh Abbey. A pencil inscription on the reverse of the free end paper states: 'From Sir Theodore Martin's Library'. The extraordinary story of Olympia Fulvia Morata, Italian classical scholar of Protestant leanings who died aged just 29.

With a gilt embossed prize block on the upper board and prize inscription on the first blank. A delightful copy of this great devotional work.

Oxford: University Press, 1909. Full calf, 7 inches tall. A beautiful 'Oxford Binding' with gilt raised bands, floral tooling to the panels and a gilt fillet framing the tree calf boards. With an ink previous owner's name dated 1913 on the first blank. A fine anthology 'Being 1150 Poems and Extracts by 300 Authors' covering over 600 years, in a delightful Edwardian tree calf.

London: Humpreys, 1912. Half crushed morocco, 6.5 inches tall. A simple but handsome binding by Sangorski & Sutcliffe with gilt raised bands and gilt pallets and top edge. Neat ink owner's name on first blank. Finely printed on hand made paper. Founder member of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, Rossetti was a great painter and poet.

Paris: Ollendorff, 1897. Half crushed morocco by Durvand, 7.5 inches tall. With raised bands, label and gilt top edge. The foredge has not been trimmed, causing a rather eccentric effect with some leaves extending about an inch further than others, a deluxe style of the period. There is an inscription from the author to an A.M.R. Rolo. A lovely. copy.

A scarce and curious edition 'Freed from all objectionable matter, and altogether free from notes' allowing it to be read aloud! 2 volumes, comprising 'Cymbeline'; 'Merchant of Venice', 'As You Like It'; 'King Lear'; 'Much Ado About Nothing'; 'Romeo And Juliet'; Twelfth Night'; 'King John'. Foxing to the preliminaries and a small stain in the top corner affecting the last two plays not touching the text.
