A splendid binding by Ramage with gilt raised bands, crowned Tudor rose centre tools in the panels and on the boards. Gilt dentelles and top edge. Hand coloured frontispiece and 39 further full page plates illustrating the history of Elizabeth I. Some foxing to the frontispiece and title page and slight rubbing to the joints and edges.

This work celebrates the lives of 20 famous 18th century women, including Madame de Pompadour, Madame du Chastelet and Marie-Antoinette.
