With a smooth back and superb intricate gilt floral tooling and the title in a cartouche. All edges gilt. A fine copy of the poems of perhaps the greatest of England's romantic poets.

The boards are framed with a double fillet. Gilt dentelles and all edges. Engraved vignettes throughout. With the bookplate D C M 'advance with courage'. A fine copy in a sparkling late Victorian binding.

A classic Victorian full calf by the great firm of Hayday & Mansell, with gilt raised bands, twin labels and elaborate gilt tooling to the panels. Twin gilt fillets, a blind fillet and rose corner tools frame the boards. 4 engraved title pages. There is a neat ink inscription 'on leaving Eton, July 1862' on the first blank. A minor stain runs along the foredge of the plates. A handsome set of the works of Oliver Goldsmith, the great Anglo-Irish novelist, naturalist and poet.

With gilt raised bands, extra gilt panels, dentelles and all edges gilt. Bookplates and the neat stamp of Bostonian collector Charles S. Dixwell on the reverse of the front free endpapers. Londres: (Cazin), 1784. Full morocco, 5.25 inches tall. A fabulous little binding of the highest quality by the great Parisian binder Paul Charles Allo. One of the celebrated editions of Cazin. With the red leather bookplate of Leon Rattier. A superb example in pristine condition.

London: printed by Woodfall and Kinder, 1862. Full morocco, 11 inches tall. A splendid full hard grain morocco by Riley & Son with wide gilt raised bands, gilt pallets, dentelles and all edges. On the upper board, the gilt arms of the Most Noble Order of the Garter is framed within fillets and ornate corner tooling. The text consists of the history of the Order, the duties of Honourable Members of the Company, their Oath and indispensable advice on how to wear ones garter, 'George', surcoat, mantle and collar.

London, Edinburgh & Boston: Foulis, 1915. Full morocco, 8 inches tall. A very fine binding by Bumpus with gilt raised bands and dense floral gilt tooling to the panels. The boards are framed within triple fillets. Gilt dentelles and all edges. Ink inscription dated 1924 on free endpaper. Decorated with 8 charming full page plates by F. Cayley-Robinson. A lovely copy of a scarce edition.

With gilt raised bands and very fine gilt interlacing geometric tooling to the panels and boards. Very slight fading to the spine. Wide, decorated dentelles and all edges gilt. With a leather bookplate commemorating the opening of North Finchley Library in 1936. The first edition of the Illustrated Edition of this hugely popular work, set on the island of Capri and first published in 1929.

Prize bookplate on the paste down end paper of the first volume. A neat and very readable copy of this, perhaps greatest, of all biographies.

London: George Bell, 1885. 2 volumes,10 1/2 inches tall. A very neat set bound by Charles Lauriat of Boston with raised bands, wide and elaborate dentelles and all edges gilt. The spines are slightly faded. With wood engraved vignettes and 34 full page steel engravings in Sepia, as called for. A splendid set of these interesting and amusing works.

London; Henry G. Bohn, 1849. Full morocco, 7 1/2 inches tall. A splendid full crushed morocco by Tout with gilt raised bands, very fine gilt tooling to the panels and triple fillets and floral corner tools framing the boards. Gilt dentelles and top edges. Armorial bookplate. Born in Ireland, Hamilton fled to France and fought alongside James II, he wrote in a fine and elegant French style. This work is an English translation of 'The Four Facardins'; 'Zeneyda'; 'The Story of May-Flower'; 'The Ram'; and 'The Enchanter Faustus'.

A really splendid binding by TOUT with raised bands, classic hunting gilt centre tools within a cartouche and delicate gilt borders. Similar exquisite gilt tooling and quadruple fillets frame the boards. Fine woodcuts throughout. Slight marking to the boards, overall a lovely copy.

Limited to 1040 copies, this being number 478. Illustrated with a portrait, 24 steel and mezzotint full page engravings and numerous engravings on wood. A fine set.
