The Birth and Triumph of Love. A Poem.
London: Printed by Bensley for Jennings and Tomkins, 1823. Full morocco, 7 inches tall. An exquisite little binding by Bayntun with gilt raised bands, beautiful gilt tooling to the panels and both boards. 2 vignettes, one hand-coloured and 24 hand-coloured plates. The plates are engraved by Tomkins from original designs by 'An Illustrious Personage, (Princess Elizabeth, daughter of George III). From the Library of the Late Christopher Foyle of Beeleigh Abbey. This copy was purchased by Queen Mary in 1940. Slight fading to the spine which is still lovely and bright, otherwise this charming work is in pristine condition.

This edition on handmade paper is limited to 200 copies with the inscription on the paste down endpaper admitting the Duke of Gloucester as a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. The Ancient Costume of Great Britain and Ireland from the seventh to the sixteenth century.
London: Bohn, 1848. Half morocco, 15 inches tall. A glorious tall copy from the library of the Duke of Gloucester at Kensington Palace. Prince Henry Duke of Gloucester was the third son of King George V, brother of King George VI and King Edward VIII. In pristine condition this copy was bound by J. Wright, one of the finest binders of the early Victorian period, with gilt raised bands, label and magnificent gilt armorial centre tools. All edges gilt. Decorated with 60 full page hand coloured plates, all dated 1811-13.

Prince Henry, Honoris causa (For the sake of honour) from E.L.C.' Eton, Easter 1916'. Prince Henry Duke of Gloucester was the third son of King George V, brother of King George VI and King Edward VIII, and the first son of a British monarch to attend school.
