Oxford: Jackson and Lister, 1778. Full calf, 11 inches tall. Full 18th century 'country house' diced calf with gilt bands, fine centre tool and green label. Speckled edges. With the bookplate of Lord Kinnaird of Rossie Priory. A superb copy of the second edition complete with engraved frontispiece and folding map. With "Bells Library Strand" in ink on the title page at the head of Book III. There is the occasional ink stain, most noticeably on the folding map, but overall a very good copy of this scarce English language edition of this classic Portuguese epic poem.More details Price: £750.00

London: Wingrave et al., 1805. 2 volume set, 8 1/2 inches tall. A magnificent full calf from the beginning of the 19th century with gilt bands, elaborate gilt centre tools, label and speckled edges. With the bookplate of M. General Sir Charles Stewart of Wynyard Park. From the library of Charles William Vane (formerly Stewart), third Marquess of Londonderry. Vane served with distinction throughout the Peninsula War. His dashing and dandified portrait by Sir Thomas Lawrence is at the National Portrait Gallery.
