Gilt dentelles and all edges. Parallel Latin text and English translation. A superbly bound copy of this scarce title.

An anthology of poetry and song with delightful chromolithograph borders. Lacks half title. A charming volume being "A Gathering of some of the most Pleasant Flowers of Old English Poetry".

London: John Murray, 1847. Full calf, 9.5 inches tall. A superb Victorian binding with gilt raised bands, red label and very fine extra gilt panels. Dentelles and all edges gilt.Foxed frontispiece and title page followed by a very clean double column text. Crabbe was hugely popular in his day and an influence on Byron, Austen and Wordsworth. Benjamin Britten's opera Peter Grimes is based on his great poem The Borough.

London: Longman, Hurst, Rees and Orme, 1809. Full diced calf, 8.5 inches tall. A superb Regency binding with gilt and blind bands and very fine blind, gilt and inked tooling to the panels. The diced boards are framed within blind and gilt rolls. There is a dark patch on the upper board and a neat ink inscription dated 1810 on the reverse of the free endpaper. A splendid example of a binding of this period on a tenth edition of this celebrated poem.

With gilt raised bands, dense gilt tooling to the panels and extraordinary elaborate tooling to the boards. Slightly sunned spine and some foxing, severe on a few pages. An anthology of British poetry illustrated by the artists of the period.

A anthology of verse by the greatest British poets of the period, illustrated by some of the most illustrious artists. As is usually the case with this edition there is foxing, some severe, throughout.

With raised bands, titles, very delicate and ornate gilt panels, dentelles and all edges gilt. The boards have elegant panels framed with heavy gilt rolls. With 44 full page engravings of scenes by Birket Foster. Slight fading to the spine but overall a fine copy.
