A most accomplished Georgian straight grain morocco binding with gilt raised bands, extra gilt panels with Grecian lyre centre tools, dentelles and all edges gilt. The larger gilt Grecian lyre tool on the boards is framed within elaborate blind tooling. Engraved portrait.

A delightful Regency full calf binding with gilt and inked bands, delicate gilt tooling to the panels and gilt and blind fillets framing the diced boards. Armorial bookplate of Sarah Phillott. Embellished with 8 charming engraved plates illustrative of young Gilbert's rural amatory adventures. This is a superb copy of this scarce work.

London: John Walker, 1794. 4 volume set, 8.5 inches tall. A most attractive Georgian full tree calf with gilt raised bands, twin labels and delightful gilt tooling to the panels. The tree calf is framed with a gilt Greek roll. Yellow edges. Loss to one headcap, some rubbing and occasional superficial loss of leather to a long defunct insect, but still a fine looking set of the poetical works of this great satirist.

London: Cadell et al, 1830 & 1834. 2 volumes, 8 inches tall. very fine full crushed morocco by Holloway. With gilt raised bands, exceptionally attractive gilt tooling to the panels and boards, gilt dentelles and all edges. Bookplate. Profusely illustrated throughout with engraved vignettes by J. M. W. Turner, Thomas Stothard, and others. These titles are frequently found in fine bindings of the period and these are of a particularly high quality.

London: Bogue, 1854. Full red morocco, 8 inches tall. A rather splendid full blind tooled morocco with gilt titles and all edges. With 50 wood engravings by Birket Foster and Jane E. Hay. Lacking the half title.

Paris: Hardouin, 1784. 2 volume set, 5 inches tall. A very simple yet good looking full calf with gilt bands, twin olive labels and tiny floral centre tools. All edges gilt. With the bookseller's ticket 'Vendu par DETREZ Libraire, place Sorbonne, No 4 a Paris'. The first volume consists of 'Poésies érotiques' and 'Voyage', the second volume of 'La journée champêtre', 'Le promontroire de Leucade', Les fleurs', and 'Mélange'. With exquisite engraved plates.

Paris: Calmann-Lévy, 1880. Full calf, 9 inches tall. A fine binding with gilt raised bands, elegant centre tools to the panels and and gilt oval centrepiece within gilt panels to the upper board. Some foxing and speckling to the boards. The first edition of this long philosophical poem.

London: Longman et al, 1847. Full morocco, 8.5 inches tall. A most attractive binding by Hayday with raised bands and extra gilt tooling to the panels and boards. Gilt dentelles and all edges. Embellished with wood engravings throughout. A splendid copy of this great 18th century poem in a signed mid-Victorian binding.

London: Bickers, c.1865. Full morocco, 6 inches tall. A charming 'Oxford' or 'Divinity' binding with gilt titles and all edges and blind tooling. Embellished with full page engravings and vignettes throughout. Slight rubbing and spotting to the boards but overall a lovely volume bound by Bickers.

London: George Routledge, 1872. Full calf, 9.5 inches tall. An elegant binding by Hatchards with gilt raised bands, fine floral gilt tooling to the panels and label. The lilac of the boards has faded on the spine but is still bright. Armorial bookplate. Double column text.
