With elaborate gilt tooled dentelles on watered silk doublures and free 'end papers'. Ink inscriptions on first blank. One of the best titles in Ramage's repertoire of little luxury binding in pristine condition.

London: Smith, Elder, & Co., 1889. 17 volume set, 7 inches tall. A classic Victorian full calf for Sotheran with gilt raised bands, twin labels and beautiful floral gilt tooling to the panels. Dentelles and all edges gilt. Twin gilt fillets and corner tools frame the boards. From the library and with the bookplates of Alfred de Rothschild. A wonderful set of the poetical works of one of the greatest and most influential English 19th century poets.

A beautiful little binding by Ramage with gilt raised bands, dense gilt tooling of many stars and dots around heart centre tools to the panels. On the boards onlays of calf create rosebuds with a wide border of stars and hearts. Delicately gilt tooled dentelles and watered silk doublures and all edges gilt. The rather extraordinary bookplate of Sibell Cromartie (Countess Cromartie of Castle Leod) is found on the pastedown 'endpaper'. A delightful volume of the poetical works of John Keats.

Edinburgh: William Paterson, 1877-79. 6 volume set, 9 inches tall. A superb late Victorian full straight grain morocco binding by Kerr & Richardson with gilt raised bands, delicately gilt framed panels and a gilt bust of Burns in the top panels. Twin gilt fillets frame the boards. Gilt dentelles and all edges. The text block is exceptionally clean. Profusely illustrated with portraits, plates and vignettes. A first edition of the the great William Scott Douglas edition in which the poems are arranged chronologically and in which the text and notes are the most complete and correct. A splendid set of this great edition in a fine binding by a great firm of Glasgow binders.

Christina Georgina Rossetti was an English writer of romantic, devotional and children's poems, including "Goblin Market" and "Remember", as well as the words of the carol "In the Bleak Midwinter".

These two volumes, containing the works of Thomas Chatterton, were part of a deluxe set, the Crown Edition, of 'The Poets of Great Britain' originally published in 72 volumes. Full crushed morocco gilt raised bands and sumptuous gilt tooling to the panels and boards. With wide and elaborate gilt dentelles and watered silk doublures and free 'endpapers'. Light foxing to the preliminaries and slight rubbing but still a remarkable and impressive binding on this charming anthology 'selected from the best songs and lyrical poems in the English language'.

London: The Leadenhall Press, 1892. 2 volume set, 6 inches tall. A delightful little set in Spanish Calf by Zaehnsdorf with gilt bands and twin labels. The boards are framed within triple gilt fillets and a gilt roll. A charming gilt wreath and portrait is blocked on both upper boards. No. 9 of just 112 copies, signed by Andrew Tuer, printed by the Leadenhall Press on hand made paper. Armorial bookplate. The original title page, dated 1809, and frontispiece are reprinted in volume I. A beautiful copy.

A wonderful full crushed morocco by Bumpus with gilt raised bands and extraordinary fine and elaborate gilt tooling to the panels and boards. Gilt dentelles and all edges. Number 61 of 750 copies printed on Deckle Edge Paper, with etchings on Handmade Paper. A truly spectacular binding in pristine condition.

London: Rivington, et al., 1811. 4 volume set, 8 3/4 inches tall. A glorious mid-Victorian binding in full calf with gilt raised bands, twin labels and exceptionally fine gilt tooling to the panels. Twin gilt fillets frame the boards. Portrait. With the bookplate of Alfred de Rothschild. A splendid set of the poetical works of this great 17th century poet, play wright and translator.

A very fine full crushed morocco binding for Hatchards with two gilt raised band and the panels and boards with beautiful gilt tooled images from 'The Pied Piper of Hamelin'. These incorporate bells and pomegranates, rats and magic pipe. Gilt dentelles and all edges. Portraits. Some rubbing but still a fine and bright copy of these great Victorian poems.

London: Edward Moxon, 1841. 6 volume set, 6 1/2 inches tall. A superb early Victorian calf binding with gilt raised bands, twin labels, the volume labels being especially ornate and extra gilt panels. Portrait. With a neat ink inscription on the first blank "Emily Westmacott....1845". Some scuffing to the edges but overall a particularly attractive set, published in the great romantic poet's lifetime.
