London: Kegan Paul, Trench, Trubner & Co, 1895 & 1896. 2 volumes, 15 inches tall. Magnificently bound in full crushed morocco and signed 'Tregaskis Caxton Head'. With tall gilt raised bands and neat geometric gilt tooling with fillets and rolls. There are vellum doublures framed within superb gilt tooling. The free endpapers are also vellum. The dentelles, with gilt tooling and calf onlays, are superb. Top edges gilt. Limited to 500 copies. There are 63 tissue guarded chromo-lithographs in each volume by Griggs, chromo-lithographer to Her Majesty Queen Victoria. There is a minor repair to the head of the Foreign volume. The green of the morocco has faded to a rich brown.

A beautiful full crushed morocco binding by RIVIERE, dated 1895 with the title in a gilt cartouche on a smooth back embellished with gilt Art Nouveau leaves within a double fillet. The boards have twin gilt fillets framing Art Nouveau leaf sprays. Decorated gilt dentelles and top edge. With all 23 plates called for. These tall deluxe editions are respectively numbers 19 of 250, and 15 of 200 copies only. Signed by Dobson on the limitation leaf of the first series.

The upper board shows St Francis kneeling before a winged Christ through an arch with dragon heads in the top corners. All edges have very unusual floral gilt gauffering. A gilt armorial device G.T. with a Griffin wielding an anchor and sword on the paste down endpaper. Number 191 from a limited edition of 500. An exceptional item.

A binding in full straight grain morocco of the highest quality attributed to C(harles) Lewis on an ancient tipped-in slip from an old catalogue. With wide gilt raised bands, exceptionally fine and dense gilt tooling to the panels and neat gilt tooling framing the boards. Superb gilt doublures. With the splendid armorial bookplate of the great bibliophile Prince Augustus Frederick, Duke of Sussex, whose magnificent library was housed at Kensington Palace. One of only 50 large paper sets with the woodcuts, after Thurston, being in 2 states, one on india paper. Some minor foxing.

Paris: Javal et Bourdeaux, 1933. Boxed, glassine wrapped volume in its original unbound state. The total height is 14 inches. 60 numbered numbered copies were printed on velin d'Arches and 13 lettered. This copy is 'Exemplaire imprime specialement pour un collaborateaur'. With 12 extraordinary plated by Beltran Masses in 2 states. The wooden box is leather bound with gilt titles, and heavily padded and lined with watered silk. It is probable that this is the publisher's copy. The box is slightly rubbed but is in excellent condition and fully functioning. There is some foxing, especially to the preliminaries. A unique copy of a very scarce volume in its original French.
