Nana. Illustre de Trente Gravures Originales de Vertès.
Paris: Javal et Bourdeaux, 1933. Text and 3 extra suites housed in 2 boxes, 14 inches tall. Number 33 of 60 copies on 'Japon Imperial'. With 30 hand coloured plates by Vertès in the main text. With 2 further suites of his illustrations in monochrome. With a further suite of 30 plates by William Ablett on Japanese tissue, each with an original pencil design in the margin. The two wooden boxes are leather bound with gilt titles, and heavily padded and lined with watered silk. I believe these were publisher's copies. The boxes are rubbed, the main box particularly so and without poppers, the smaller box, containing the suites is fully functioning, the contents are pristine.A unique set.
