London: John Murray, 1901. 2 volume set, 8 3/4 inches tall. A beautiful Edwardian full calf binding from the library of Alfred de Rothschild, but without his bookplate. With gilt raised bands, twin labels and fine gilt tooling to the panels. Gilt and blind fillets frame the boards. Foxing to the preliminaries, then pristine. Illustrated throughout. The notorious Lady Sarah Lennox was 'Daughter of Charles, 2nd Duke of Richmond, and successively the Wife of Sir Thomas Charles Bunbury, Bart,; and of the Hon: George Napier'. The work also includes 'a short political sketch of the years 1760 to 1763 by Henry Fox, 1st Lord Holland'. A favorite of both King George II and King George III she led a remarkable and scandalous life.

A very fine full crushed morocco by the great firm of Morrell with gilt raised bands, suitably macabre/comic centre tools and ornate gilding to the spine and boards. Gilt dentelles and all edges. There is a neat ink former owners name on the first blank that has partially offset. 20 superb full page steel engravings by Cruikshank, Leech and the author. A super copy of this classic comic work.

London: T. Egerton et al., 1796. 2 volume set, 9 3/4 inches tall. A remarkable Georgian full straight grain morocco with gilt raised bands, very fine gilt tooling to the panels and an extraordinary series of blind fillets and rolls framing the boards. With gilt dentelles and all edges. Embellished with aquatint vignettes on the engraved title pages, and a further 45 engraved or aquatint plates. There is heavy foxing to the title pages and less to the rest of the prints. The binding itself is rubbed but firm and not splitting. A striking copy of the second, enlarged, edition.

London: Dent, 1930. Full calf, 7 1/2 inches tall. A classic tree calf binding with gilt raised bands and ornate gilt floral tooling to the panels. A gilt roll frames the tree calf and gilt prize block on the upper board. Prize bookplate on the front paste down endpaper. Decorated with 12 colour illustrations and profuse black line vignettes and full page illustrations.

With gilt raised bands, exquisite floral gilt tooling to the panels and double gilt fillet framing the boards. First edition. With the bookplate of Edward Nicholas Hurt of Wirksworth. This superb set is in pristine condition, both in terms of the text block and binding, evidently having not been read.

The straight grain of the boards is framed within gilt and blind fillets. From the Library and with the bookplate of Robert J. Hayhurst. Each play is separately paginated. A delightful volume in fine condition.
