With 10 tipped on hand coloured plates and numerous vignettes throughout on india paper by John Leech. Rather large ink inscription on the past down endpaper.

A fine looking set of the first and second series in a handsome Victorian half calf by Sotheran with gilt raised bands, twin labels and neat floral gilt tooling to the panels. Portrait and engraved vignettes throughout. A clean and bright set of this great English comic author's 'collection of wit and humour'.

Twin gilt and a single blind fillets frame the boards. Vignettes. A fine set of this amusing work on the life of the early 19th century poet and humorist Thomas Hood.
