No 49 of a limited edition of just 270. Bound by 'Bremer Binder F. TH.' A finely printed and bound collection of early French love songs in French.

London: George Bell, 1904. Two volume set, 5 inches tall. Full crushed morocco with raised bands, splendid floral gilt tooling to the panels, dentelles and all edges. The upper boards are finely decorated, the lower boards have a simple gilt fillet. Ink inscriptions, dated 1906 on the first blanks.

London: Longmans, Green, and Co., 1895. Half morocco, 7 1/2 inches tall. A smartly bound volume of the 'thoroughly revised' fifth edition with raised bands, gilt 'sporting' centre tools and gilt top edge. With numerous illustrations by Thomas Hodge and Harry Furniss. A lovely copy of this classic work.

London: Arthur L. Humphreys, 1906. Half morocco, 8.5 inches tall. A fine binding by Sawyer with gilt raised bands, fine gilt tooled panels, title and top edge. From the 'The Royal Library Historical Series'. This is a very elegant example of one of Humphreys' finely printed works on handmade paper in absolutely pristine condition.

The two volume Memorials plus the third suplimentary volume containing 57 photogrpahs in half calf with gilt raised bands, twin labels and elegant gilt tooling to the panels. With the armorial bookplates of William Lowe. A fine set.

Paris: Calmann-Lévy, 1880. Full calf, 9 inches tall. A fine binding with gilt raised bands, elegant centre tools to the panels and and gilt oval centrepiece within gilt panels to the upper board. Some foxing and speckling to the boards. The first edition of this long philosophical poem.

A splendid Georgian binding with gilt raised bands, a series of pallets framing the panels and elaborate gilt rolls and corner tooling on the boards. All edges gilt. Engraved portrait and title page. Two bookplates. Slight fading to the spine, overall a superb little edition of the works of this great Roman lyric poet. In the original Latin.

London: John Murray, 1886. 2 volume set, 8 inches tall. A splendid full calf by Bickers with gilt raised bands, triple labels and ornate gilt tooling to the panels. Gilt dentelles and top edges. Armorial bookplate. A fine set by this celebrated English 'man of letters’.

New York: Roycrofters, 1900. Full limp reverse calf, 8 1/2 inches tall. A beautifully printed limp reverse calf with yapp edges, and gilt titling to the upper cover. Hand coloured title page and initials by Samuel Warner and printed on hand made deckle edged paper. One of 925 'hand illumined' copies of which this is number 6. Signed by Elbert Hubbard.

London: Printed by W.J. Sears, c.1828. Full calf, 6 1/4 inches tall. A beautiful little embossed calf binding by Wesley (with their stamp at the foot of the upper board), with floral blind tooling and gilt lettering to the spine and ornate blind tooling to the boards. All edges gilt. A neat ink inscription dated 1843 on the front free end paper. Engraved frontispiece, title page and 4 further plates. A lovely copy in excellent condition.

Paris: Joseph Barbou, 1775. Full calf, 6.5 inches tall. A delightful 18th century calf binding with gilt bands, labels and floral gilt tooling to the panels. The mottled calf boards are framed by simple gilt rolls. All edges gilt. Frontispiece and woodcut ornaments.

London: John Rivington et al, 1779. 2 vols., 8vo (7" tall). Full calf. Raised bands, exceptionally bold centre tools in elaborate gilt panels and twin red and green labels. Minor expert restoration to one head cap and slight splitting to the joints of volume 1, but still firm and a most attractive copy.

London: Nimmo, 1885. 2 volume set, 9.25 inches tall. Full crushed morocco by Ramage, one of the great binders of the period. A smart, though simple, binding with gilt raised bands, gilt framed panels and boards. Gilt top edges and dentelles. Slightly rubbed. Armorial bookplates. London: Cooke, 1805. Full roan, 5 1/2 inches tall. A delightful little Georgian binding with gilt bands, floral centre tools and green label. Slightly rubbed and small loss of leather on the lower board next to the shoulder. Engraved frontispiece and two tail pieces.

London: Rivington et al., 1774. 2 volume set, 7 inches tall. Full speckled calf with twin labels, raised bands and simple gilt tooling. A very pleasing, simple, 18th C. binding. The book plates have been neatly removed.

With a Rugby school gilt prize block on the upper board and prize bookplate. 10 plates. A stirring account of the adventures of Admiral Blake, one of the greatest English military commanders of the 17th century, in a very smart binding.
