With gilt raised bands, triple labels and wonderful gilt tooling to the panels and boards. Gilt dentelles and top edges. From the library of Alfred de Rothschild but without his bookplate. Slight rubbing and light foxing, overall fine. This Deluxe edition was limited to 200 copies of which this is number 152. The introduction is printed on heavy hand-made paper and is deckled, the leaves of plates and their descriptions are trimmed. The volumes are arranged thus: Volume I, with 22 plates, is devoted to the reign…

Some slight foxing to the preliminaries but in fine condition. Illustrated with photographs in the text and then with 100 superb plates, many sepia and with 7 in colour. A sumptuous record of the Golden Age of French furniture when some of the finest and most refined pieces were ever created, in a fabulous binding from the library of a great connoisseur.
