A splendid Georgian binding with gilt raised bands, a series of pallets framing the panels and elaborate gilt rolls and corner tooling on the boards. All edges gilt. Engraved portrait and title page. Two bookplates. Slight fading to the spine, overall a superb little edition of the works of this great Roman lyric poet. In the original Latin.

London: 1889. Full morocco, 10 inches tall. A splendid full morocco by Bumpus with gilt raised bands, fine gilt tooling to the panels and double gilt fillets and corner tooling to the panels. Dentelles and all edges gilt. Slight fading to the spine. Decorated with 6 etchings by M. M. Taylor.

London: Alfred W. Bennett, 1866. Full morocco, 9.5 inches tall. An exceptional full hard grain morocco binding with raised bands, gilt and blind pallets and centre tools to the spine and delightful gilt tooling to the boards. Gilt dentelles and all edges. Illustrated with 15 photographs by Cundall and Fleming. Neat ink inscription dated 1867 on the first blank. The green has faded on the spine, the boards have a faint stain and there is some slight rubbing but this scarce deluxe edition is still a most attractive volume.

London: Samson Low, 1859. Full Morocco, 8 inches tall. A remarkable Victorian embossed binding with raised bands, blind centre tools and pallets to the spine and complex blind embossed tooling around a much decorated gilt title to the boards. All edges gilt. 20 engraved illustrations by Wehnert. Ink inscription to the second blank 'Miss M. Hogoboom Sharon'. There has been some near invisible expert restoration to the tooling on the upper board, overall a splendid copy.

London: The Religious tract Society, c.1845. Full morocco, 2 1/2 inches tall. A delightful little volume in pristine condition with elaborate gilt tooling to the spine and boards. All edges gilt.

London: Crosby, 1804. Full morocco, 7 1/4 inches tall. A very pretty Georgian straight grain morocco binding with gilt raised bands and delicate centre tools. The boards are framed within a lovely gilt roll and triple fillets. All edges gilt. Illustrated with fine engraved vignettes throughout. A neat ink inscription on the reverse of the free end paper and a previous owner's name on the title page. The half title has been torn out. Slightly grubby but still a charming volume.

London: Arthur L. Humphreys, 1912. Full morocco, 5 1/2 inches tall. A beautiful little volume bound for Hatchards of Piccadilly with raised bands, blind tooling over the shoulders and gilt tittles and floral brackets on the spine and upper board. Three tales finely printed on hand made paper, top edge gilt, the rest untrimmed, by Humhpreys.

London: John Reeves, c.1835. Full morocco, 5.5 inches tall. A superb and very unusual little binding with raised bands elaborately tooled panels and board in ink, a most uncommon style in the 1830's. All edges gilt. Slight foxing to the preliminaries, a lengthy ink inscription on the second blank and the name 'Mary Wheatley' on the half title.

London: Routledge, 1872. Full red morocco, 8.5 inches tall. A heavy Victorian binding with gilt raised bands, title, dentelles and all edges and splendid gilt tooling to the panels and boards. An excellent anthology of English poetry from the perspective of the time. With illustrations by Millais, Gilbert, Tenniel, Birket Foster and others. An owners name on the paste down endpaper has been crossed out and there is some foxing to the blanks, otherwise clean.

London: William Tegg, 1850. Full morocco, 6.5 inches tall. A superb little edition of these 2 great 18th century poems in full morocco. With raised bands, delicate gilt tooled panels and elaborate gilt and blind tooling to the boards. Dentelles and all edges gilt. Particularly attractive endpapers. Neat ink inscription dated 1857 to the reverse of the paste down endpaper. A degree of foxing to the engraved plates.

London: Printed by the Queen's printers for Peacock, Mansfield, and Britton, c.1870. Full morocco, 5 inches tall. A superb little edition with exceptionally bold clasps with raised bands, gilt title and all edges. The clasps are in full working order. A neat ink inscription, dated 1879, on the first blank.

London: Macmillan and Co., 1903. Full Morocco, 8 1/2 inches tall. A very fine Edwardian binding with gilt raised bands and intricate and fine gilt tooling to the panels and boards and all edges gilt. A prize bookplate on the first blank.

London: Dent, n.d. c.1905. Full morocco, 10 inches tall. Full straight grain morocco by Bumpus, gilt raised bands, panels, titles, dentelles and all edges. A splendid copy of this fascinating volume with 50 full page colour illustrations and many black and white in the text. Foxing to the first few blanks and then clean from the half title. Ink inscription on the first blank.

With gilt and blind tooled wide raised bands, very fine gilt tooling to the panels, gilt and blind tooling framing the boards, dentelles and all edges. Some foxing, particularly to the preliminaries. Some marks and scuffing but generally in excellent condition with no splitting or loss.

A delightful binding with wide gilt raised bands, dense gilt tooling to the panels, fine gilt tooling framing the boards and all edges gilt. 2 engraving presentation pages (both blank), Engraved portrait, engraved title page and a further 16 full page engraved plates. An interesting anthology including contributions by John Clare, Lord Byron and Robert Southey. A neat ink owners name on the title page.
