A slip 'To Lieut General Melvill at John Balfour's Esq in the Advocate's Close Edinb.' is enclosed. This would appear to refer to General Robert Melvill, inventor of the carronade and Governor of Guadeloupe. A superb set of Bishop Horne's most celebrated work.
