Londres: (Cazin), 1781. 2 volume set, 5.25 inches tall. A fabulous little full morocco set of the highest quality by the great Parisian binder Paul Charles Allo. One of the celebrated editions of Cazin. This work was once attributed to Dumouriez (hence the title on the spine) but is in fact an adaptation of Forteguerri's work. With the red leather bookplate of Leon Rattier. A superb example of this very scarce edition in pristine condition.

A splendid early Victorian full hard grain morocco with gilt raised bands, charming floral gilt tooling to the panels and magnificent and very elaborate extra gilt tooling to the boards. Gilt dentelles and all edges. Engraved portrait and forty engraved plates. Slight fading to the spines and a little foxing, otherwise a superb set which includes the sonnets.

London: Cadell, 1800. 2 volume set, 8.5 inches tall. A superb binding with gilt raised bands, label and exceptionally fine gilt tooling to the panels and boards. With dentelles and all edges gilt. Portrait. A pristine copy of this early enlarged edition.

London: Rivington et al, 1817. Full straight grain morocco, 8.25 inches tall. An usual and superb biding from the Georgian period. With 3 very finely decorated raised bands, 1 inch square, titles, dentelles and all edges. The straight grain boards are framed within gilt and blind tooled rolls. Contains the "Life of The Author" and "Criticism On The Poem" by Samuel Johnson. Engraved portrait and title page. Neat early owners inscription on first blank.

London: Charles Tilt, c 1840. 8 volume set, 4 inches tall. Full morocco with gilt panels, gilt blocks to the boards and all edges gilt. A charming little set with a few small nicks to head and tail caps, otherwise in pristine condition.

London: Jennings, n.d. c.1837. Full morocco, 11.5 inches tall. A splendid binding from the beginning of the Victorian period with wide gilt raised bands, magnificent tooling to the boards and all edges gilt. Including the title page there are 42 engraved views by David Roberts. Foxing, particularly heavy on the title page. With the bookseller's ticket of Pocock of Bath. A rare tall edition, with no text, in a spectacular binding.

Leipzig: Otto Wigand, 1859. Full morocco, 10.75 inches tall. A magnificent binding by H. Sperling in full morocco with a gilt blocked spine and gilt blocked boards framed in relief with fine gilt flourishes. All edges gilt. Full page engraved plates throughout.

London & Paris: Boussod, Valadon & Co (GOUPIL), 1896. Full crushed morocco, 13 inches tall. A splendid binding by Ramage with gilt raised bands, crowned Tudor rose centre tools in the panels and on the boards. Gilt dentelles and top edge. Hand coloured frontispiece and 39 further full page plates illustrating the history of Elizabeth I. Some foxing to the frontispiece and title page and slight rubbing to the joints and edges.

A beautiful binding by Bickers with gilt raised bands, very fine floral gilt tooling to the panels and a triple gilt fillet framing the boards. Top edge gilt. Armorial bookplate of Sir William Bass. Striking and sometimes fantastic full page engraved plates.

London: John Murray, 1827. 6 volume set, 6 1/2 inches tall. A delightful set in full Georgian straight grain morocco with gilt raised bands, fine gilt tooling to the panels, blind and gilt rolls and fillets framing the boards, dentelles and all edges gilt. The armorial bookplate of The Honourable Henry Ayers. There is a shelf reference at the head of the title pages, slight rubbing and the a warping of vol. VI indicating that the set has been tied up with string probably for an auction lot. A very pretty set.

London: Macmillan, 1894. 2 volume set, 8 1/2 inches tall. A rather splendid full morocco in pristine condition with gilt raised bands, very finely gilt tooled panels and spine. All edges gilt. With a gilt prize inscription on the upper board and prize bookplate on the first blank. Alice Stopford Green was an Irish historian and nationalist who married the English historian, J. R. Green. She was involved in the Howth gun-running of July 1914, having given Roger Casement a loan to help buy German arms.

Paris: A. Ferroud, 1894. Full morocco, 9 1/2 inches tall. A beautiful binding by the great Petrus Ruban on full crushed morocco. Gilt raised bands, fine gilt framed panels, dentelles, all edges and superb gilt tooling to the boards. 25 illustrations by Ad. Lalauze. With the bookplate of Daniel Henry Holmes. One of 250 examples printed on papier d'Arches out of a limited edition of 500. A spectacular example of a culturally important work. In the original French.

Edinburgh: James Nichol, 1853. Full morocco, 8 1/2 inches tall. A truly superb binding in full straight grain morocco by J. Wright, a bookbinder "of the highest order" (Ramsden). With gilt raised bands and glorious gilt tooling to the panels and boards. Gilt dentelles and all edges. Young's 'Night-Thoughts' was one of the most popular poems of the century, influencing Goethe and Edmund Burke, among many others, with its notable illustrations by William Blake.

London: Rudolph Ackermann, 1843. Full morocco, 10 inches tall. A beautiful copy bound by Riviere with gilt raised bands and superb floral gilt tooling around a classic pomegranate centre tool. Triple gilt fillets frame the boards, dentelles and all edges gilt. Original cloth cover bound in. The text comprises the memoirs of the Masters of Hounds; Notices of Crack Riders; and Characteristics of the Hunting Countries of England. With 32 illustrations by Alken, Wildrake and Henderson, including 9 engraved plates of Meets.
