Paris: Chez Amyot, 1836. Full morocco, 5.25 inches tall. A superb little full morocco with gilt raised bands, very fine floral gilt tooling to the panels, dentelles and all edges. The monogram A.F. on the upper board is framed within gilt panels and ornate gilt corner tooling. Watered silk doublures and free endpapers. A series of profound and mournful adages. Some foxing and rubbing. In the original French.

London: Arthur L. Humphreys, 1904. Full crushed morocco, 8.5 inches tall. A delightful binding in full terracotta crushed morocco, with raised bands, simple gilt framed panels and distinctive gilt and blind tooling to the boards. Gilt dentelles and all edges. Finely printed on hand made paper. Some rubbing and slight wear to the upper joint. Lenclos is celebrated for her charm, wit, intellect and for her liaisons with many of the most distinguished men of the day. Her salon was frequented, amongst others, by La Fontaine, Racine and Moliere.

London: Suttaby et al, 1812. 2 volume set, 5.25 inches tall. Lucan's epic Roman poem telling the story of the civil war between Julius Caesar and the Senate under Pompey the Great. From a larger set of "The Works of the British Poets", hence the volume numbers on the spine. With raised bands, delicate gilt tooled panels and elaborate gilt and blind tooling to the boards. Dentelles and all edges gilt. Particularly attractive endpapers. Neat ink inscription dated 1857 to the reverse of the paste down endpaper. A degree of foxing to the engraved plates.

London: Religious Tract Society, c.1870. Full crushed morocco, 6.5 inches tall. A superb little binding with gilt raised bands, extra gilt panels, dentelles and all edges. Scattered light foxing. A neat ink inscription dated 1871 on the 3rd blank. Illustrated full page engravings.

London: Printed for the author, 1825. A stunning binding from the library of Lord Eldon, Lord Chancellor and in a uniform binding with our Soames History of the Reformation in our stock. Full straight grain morocco, 8.5 inches tall. With very wide raised gilt bands, superb extra gilt panels and tooling to the boards, dentelles and all edges. As is usual with this colour some blotching has occured over the years. On the title page volume 2 is stated and neatly crossed out and we are under the impression that this is the only volume published, as it contains a list of subscribers.

London: Bickers, c.1865. Full morocco, 6 inches tall. A charming 'Oxford' or 'Divinity' binding with gilt titles and all edges and blind tooling. Embellished with full page engravings and vignettes throughout. Slight rubbing and spotting to the boards but overall a lovely volume bound by Bickers.

London: Gall & Inglis, c.1890. Full morocco, 7.75 inches tall. A sparkling copy of this edition with raised bands and elaborate gilt and inked tooling to the panels and boards. All edges gilt. Many full page engraved plates. Coloured borders to each page. Tasseled book mark. An ink inscription on the half title otherwise pristine.

Edinburgh: Gall & Inglis, c.1875. Full crushed morocco, 7 inches tall. An elaborate binding in pristine condition with raised bands and gilt and blind tooling to the panels and boards. All edges gilt. Engraved frontispiece, title page and full page plates.

London: Joseph Masters, 1869. Full morocco, 5 inches tall. A delightful little binding with two gilt raised bands, either end of the title and name, presumably of the original owner. There is dense and fine gilt tooling to the spine at the head and tail. The boards are framed with triple fillets and corner tools. GIlt dentelles and all edges.

London: Bogue, 1854. Full red morocco, 8 inches tall. A rather splendid full blind tooled morocco with gilt titles and all edges. With 50 wood engravings by Birket Foster and Jane E. Hay. Lacking the half title.

Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1829. Full morocco, 5.75 inches tall. A very elegant binding with gilt raised bands, extra gilt panels and fine gilt panels to the boards. Gilt dentelles and all edges.

Portland, Maine: Thomas B. Mosher, 1910. Full crushed morocco for Hatchards, 5.5 inches tall. With raised bands, gilt panels and titles to the spine and fine gilt tooling and onlays to the boards. Gilt dentelles and all edges. The armorial bookplate of Basil Roscoe. Limited to 925 copies on hand made paper. The spine is slightly faded but still a lovely copy.

London: Charles Noble, 1867. Full morocco, 4 inches tall. An exceptional Victorian binding with gilt raised bands, very fine floral gilt tooled panels and dentelles. The print is tiny and there is some offsetting making it doubly unreadable but housed in a delightful little binding.
