The boards are framed with a double fillet. Gilt dentelles and all edges. Engraved vignettes throughout. With the bookplate D C M 'advance with courage'. A fine copy in a sparkling late Victorian binding.

London: Richardson et al.,1806. 2 volume set, 9 1/2 inches tall. A most attractive full Regency full straight grain morocco with a smooth back, gilt bands and fine gilt tooling typical of the style of the day. The boards are framed by gilt and blind rolls. All edges gilt. The armorial bookplate of Lord Kinnaird of Rossie Priory, Perth. Engraved plates. Some foxing, especially to the plates a couple of ancient ink stains to the boards, otherwise a fine set.

London: Routeledge, Warne, and Routledge, 1862. 2 volume set, 9 1/2 inches tall. A rather magnificent full morocco with gilt raised bands, extra gilt panels and superb ornate gilt tooling around a heraldic crest to the boards. Gilt dentelles and all edges. Double column. Engraved portrait of Shakespeare, engraved title page, full page engravings of scenes from Shakespeare's Plays and 45 full page extra illustrated engravings of Shakespeare's heroines. Some rubbing to the binding, loss of both free end papers and slight foxing to the tissues and portraits but still an impressive set.

London: Wilkie and Robinson et al, 1811. Full straight grain morocco, 7.25 inches tall. A superb binding from the Georgian period with very unusual twin gilt raised bands, titles, dense gilt tooling to the spine, dentelles and all edges. The straight grain boards are framed within fine gilt rolls. An early small neat ink owners inscription on the reverse of the free endpaper. Embellished with 4 engraved images by Cardon representing the seasons.

London: H.G. Bohn, 1849. 2 volume set, 7.25 inches tall. One of a special series of 'Bohn's Extra Volumes' Beautifully bound in full morocco by the celebrated London binder Jeremiah Larkins. With gilt raised bands, extra gilt panels, dentelles and all edges gilt. Bookplates and the neat stamp of Bostonian collector Charles S. Dixwell on the reverse of the front free endpapers. Paris: J. Techener, 1860. Full morocco, 8 inches tall. A splendid full morocoo binding by Bedford, one of London's finest binders of the period, with gilt raised bands, very fine floral gilt tooling to the panels. dentelles and top edge. With the armorial bookplate of Ernest William Greg.

Londres: (Cazin), 1784. Full morocco, 5.25 inches tall. A fabulous little binding of the highest quality by the great Parisian binder Paul Charles Allo. One of the celebrated editions of Cazin. With the red leather bookplate of Leon Rattier. A superb example in pristine condition.

London: Chapman & Hall, 1887. Full morocco, 8 inches tall. A most good looking full morocco by Leighton with gilt raised bands, gilt tooled panels, dentelles and all edges. A charming work with 12 colour plates. Very slight scuffing to the boards, an excellent copy. With the bookplate of Alfred Freiherr de Rothschild of Halton House, Bucks..

Paris: Didot, 1803 (AN XI). 5 volume set, 5.5 inches tall. A delightful set in full straight grain morocco with gilt bands, centre tools, gilt roll framing the boards and all edges gilt. In the original French.

London: Lawrence and Bullen, 1892. 2 volume set, 11 inches tall. A very smart full morocco binding with gilt raised bands, gilt fillets to the panels and rolls to the boards. Gilt top edges. Limited to 1000 copies of which this is number 73. Portrait and 14 full page plates by Louis Chalon. Translated into English by Sir Thomas Urquart of Cromarty and Peter Anthony Motteux. A handsome set of this great 16th century fantasy.

London: printed by Woodfall and Kinder, 1862. Full morocco, 11 inches tall. A splendid full hard grain morocco by Riley & Son with wide gilt raised bands, gilt pallets, dentelles and all edges. On the upper board, the gilt arms of the Most Noble Order of the Garter is framed within fillets and ornate corner tooling. The text consists of the history of the Order, the duties of Honourable Members of the Company, their Oath and indispensable advice on how to wear ones garter, 'George', surcoat, mantle and collar.

London, Edinburgh & Boston: Foulis, 1915. Full morocco, 8 inches tall. A very fine binding by Bumpus with gilt raised bands and dense floral gilt tooling to the panels. The boards are framed within triple fillets. Gilt dentelles and all edges. Ink inscription dated 1924 on free endpaper. Decorated with 8 charming full page plates by F. Cayley-Robinson. A lovely copy of a scarce edition.

London: John Murray, 1936. Full morocco, 9 1/2 inches tall. A splendid full morocco presentation binding by Bayntun. With gilt raised bands and very fine gilt interlacing geometric tooling to the panels and boards. Very slight fading to the spine. Wide, decorated dentelles and all edges gilt. With a leather bookplate commemorating the opening of North Finchley Library in 1936. The first edition of the Illustrated Edition of this hugely popular work, set on the island of Capri and first published in 1929.

London: George Bell, 1885. 2 volumes,10 1/2 inches tall. A very neat set bound by Charles Lauriat of Boston with raised bands, wide and elaborate dentelles and all edges gilt. The spines are slightly faded. With wood engraved vignettes and 34 full page steel engravings in Sepia, as called for. A splendid set of these interesting and amusing works.

Glasgow: William Collins, 1841. Full morocco, 7 inches tall. A lovely bright hard grain morocco for Hatchards with raised bands, and very fine gilt tooling to the panels and boards. There is a neat ink on the free endpaper 'Mary Cornelia S(?) from dear Lady Corbet. 1846'. M.C.S. has her initials and coronet on the upper board. Gauffered edges. Slight foxing to the preliminaries, then clean. A fine copy.

London; Henry G. Bohn, 1849. Full morocco, 7 1/2 inches tall. A splendid full crushed morocco by Tout with gilt raised bands, very fine gilt tooling to the panels and triple fillets and floral corner tools framing the boards. Gilt dentelles and top edges. Armorial bookplate. Born in Ireland, Hamilton fled to France and fought alongside James II, he wrote in a fine and elegant French style. This work is an English translation of 'The Four Facardins'; 'Zeneyda'; 'The Story of May-Flower'; 'The Ram'; and 'The Enchanter Faustus'.

London: Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown, Green, and Longmans, 1840. Full morocco, 8 1/4 inches tall. A really splendid binding by TOUT with raised bands, classic hunting gilt centre tools within a cartouche and delicate gilt borders. Similar exquisite gilt tooling and quadruple fillets frame the boards. Fine woodcuts throughout. Slight marking to the boards, overall a lovely copy.

London: At the Chiswick Press for the Paris Académie Des Bibliophiles, 1868. Full morocco, 8 inches tall. A superb full straight grain morocco with gilt raised bands and very fine and rich gilt tooling to the panels and boards. With gilt dentelles and all edges. Slightly rubbed at the head and with a little staining to the upper board. This example is number 98 of 265 copies. This is a study of the Talmud by Deutch who came from Berlin, but worked in the department of oriental manuscripts at the British Museum.
