With gilt raised bands, triple olive green labels and exquisite gilt tooling in the panels. The boards are decorated in the style of 17th century Cambridge panels, speckled and stenciled. Gilt dentelles and top edges. A few superficial abrasions. As nice a late Victorian bound set as one could hope to find.

Embellished with 21 hand comic hand-coloured aquatints by George Cruikshank and a further 22 wood engravings. This unique copy also contains a tipped in signature of George Cruikshank, a tipped in note by Robert Cruikshank and a tipped in letter of George Bell. Slightly rubbed but still a super copy of the rollicking adventures of a band of young English Gentlemen enjoying life to the full in Paris.

Splendid, sparkling full calf by Bumpus with gilt raised bands, 'country' gilt centre tools, triple labels (excepting the first novel, 'Jorrocks's Jaunts' which was published anonymously) and with gilt corner tools and triple fillets framing the boards. Gilt dentelles and all edges. These are all first editions in single volume book form excepting 'Handley Cross'. "Jorrocks's Jaunts' has 12 full page illustrations by 'Phiz', 'Hawbuck Grange' 8 plates by 'Phiz', the remainder have hand coloured plates by Leech. Some foxing and a small superficial stain to the lower board of 'Jorrocks's Jaunts'. A wonderful collection of these hilarious, vulgar and rollicking novels of English Country life in the early nineteenth century

A gilt roll frames the boards. Very slight rubbing, but still a super set of the works of one of the greatest of English poets and leader of the Roman movement.

London: R. Ackerman, 1817. Full calf, 10 inches tall. A superb full calf by Riviere with gilt raised bands, label and dense floral gilt tooling to the panels. A triple gilt fillet and corner tools frame the boards. Gilt dentelles and all edges. Armorial Bookplate of Marcus Brown-Westhead of Lea Castle. Decorated with hand coloured aquatint frontispiece, vignette on the title page and a further 24 full page plates throughout, all by Thomas Rowlandson.

London: George Bell, 1892. 5 volume set, 7 1/2 inches tall. A gorgeous full calf by Sotheran of Piccadilly with gilt raised bands, twin labels and gilt tooled panels. The boards are framed within corner tools and twin fillets. gilt dentelles and top edges. 150 copies of the Large Paper Edition, of which this is number 65, have been printed of this Aldine edition. Portrait. A delightful set of the works of this great romantic English poet.

Paris: Perlet, 1803. 23 volume set, 8 1/4 inches tall. A most attractive and unusual full calf from the period of publication. The very elegant spines have gilt bands, twin labels and ornate and delicate centre tooling, typical of the period. Embellished with 74 fine full page engravings. A fine gilt roll frames the boards which blend tree calf with speckled lozenges in a superb fashion. Minor rubbing. With the armorial bookplates of Lord Kinnaird. A lovely set of Petitot's greatest work.

Edinburgh: Printed by Mosman and Brown, 1727-28. 4 volume set, 10 1/2 inches tall. An exceptionally nice set of this very scarce title in Georgian full diced calf with gilt raised bands, twin labels and splendid gilt centre tools to the panels. A gilt fillet and wide blind roll frame the diced boards. Pink speckled edges. Some foxing, mostly confined to the preliminaries. A collection of all the material available to Anderson at the time relating to Mary Queen of Scots.

London: W. Wright, 1820. Full Calf, 9 1/2 inches tall. A superb full mottled calf by Riviere with gilt raised bands, twin labels and fine gilt floral tooling to the panels. A gilt roll and twin gilt fillets frame the boards. Gilt dentelles and all edges. Embellished with 17 full page hand coloured aquatints and a splendid illustrated title page by Charles Williams. A Lovely copy of this hilarious Doctor Syntax spinoff.

London: Longmans, Green, and Co., 1875 & 1877. 10 volume set, 8 1/2 inches tall. A very handsome Victorian full calf with gilt raised bands, twin labels and finely gilt panels around a pomegranate centre tool. A splendid set of the Works complete in 8 volumes and the Life complete in 2 volumes. There is some minor rubbing and the engraved frontispiece of the Life is offset, otherwise a clean and pristine set of this great history.

London: Ackermann, 1823. 3 volume set, 5 1/2 inches tall. The exquisite miniature edition of 1823 bound in later full calf by Bayntun with gilt raised bands, twin labels, fine gilt tooling to the panels, twin gilt fillets framing the boards, dentelles and all edges gilt. Illustrated with 80 hand-coloured plates by Thomas Rowlandson, including two pictorial title pages, as called for. Brilliant comic satirical verse matched by Rowlandson's equally comic hand coloured aquatints.

London: Chapman and Hall, 1865-69. A 17 volume collection, 7 3/4 inches tall. An exceptionally good looking Victorian full calf with gilt raised bands, twin labels and intricate gilt tooling to the panels. A wide gilt roll, gilt and blind fillets and corner tools frame the boards. Fine engraved frontispieces, title pages and full page illustrations by Phiz throughout. Though not a complete set of Lever's works this is a beautifully bound collection of 10 of his most popular novels, individually published, in 17 volumes. In his day the Irish novelist, Charles Lever, was hugely popular and influential and his rollicking style is still enjoyed.

A superb set of this great history devoted to the relationship between the conquering Spanish forces and the native American Indians.
