A gilt fillet frames the boards. Gilt dentelles and all edges. A neat ink inscription, dated 1881, is to be found on the half title.

Extraordinary full calf binding with ornate floral tooling on its 'flat back' spine, delicate gilt tooling to the boards, dentelles and all edges. The armorial bookplate of the Earl of Ilchester. In very good condition.

London: Richard Bentley, 1839. Full calf, 6.5 inches tall. A most good looking early Victorian binding with gilt raised bands, twin labels and ornate gilt tooling, including shamrocks, to the panels. The engraved frontispiece and title page are foxed, otherwise the text is clean. Armorial bookplate. Complete in itself but published as volume XXIII in the series of Standard Novels. A handsome copy of Lover's great tale of the Irish Rebellion of 1641.

London: Macmillan, 1868. Full calf, 7.5 inches tall. A very good looking mid-Victorian full calf with gilt raised bands, label and extra gilt tooling to the panels. Colour frontispiece and further monochrome plates.

Edinburgh: Edmonston & Douglas, 1857. Superb copy in full pink calf, 7 inches tall. With gilt raised bands, twin labels, thistle centre tools, dentelles and all edges. Armorial bookplate. With the original rather tatty paper wraps bound in and an owner's inscription dated 1887 on the first blank. A charming copy.

London: R. Priestley, et al, 1824. 8vo (9 x 5.75 inches). Full grey calf, with red label, wide gilt raised bands and ornate blind tooling to panels. Triple blind rule framing boards. Marbled edges. Armorial bookplate.

London: Longman et al, 1835. Full calf, 6.5 inches tall. With a raised title and very wide raised gilt head and tail band. The lower panels have dense blind tooling within gilt rolls. Gilt and blind tooling to the boards. Engraved title page and vignettes throughout. Considerably rubbed edges but still perfectly tight and firm. A truly charming little volume.
