London: Smith, Elder and Co., 1850. 3 volume set, 7 3/4 inches tall. A fine mid-Victorian half calf with gilt raised bands, twin labels and ornate gilt tooling to the panels. With the little pale green tickets of 'Folthorp. Royal Library Brighton'. The preliminaries including the frontispieces and title pages are foxed, otherwise clean. Leigh Hunt was a highly influential critic and poet who introduced the poetry of Keats, Shelley, Browning and Tennyson to the public. He was immortalised by Louis Édouard Fournier in his painting of Shelley's funeral on the beach at Viareggio.
