Glasgow: Printed by and for R. Chapman, 1809. Half Calf, 8 1/2 inches tall. A simple but pleasing near contemporary binding with raised bands, label and blind pallets. This 12th edition Glasgow printing is "Enriched with a portrait and Life of the Author". Slight discolouration in the top panel and offsetting from the engraved portrait but a nice clean copy of this scarce edition.

London: Henry G. Bohn, 1854. 2 volume set, 9 inches tall. A very smart mid-Victorian full calf with gilt raised bands, beautifully gilt tooled panels and twin labels. Two gilt fillets frame the boards. Maps. A neat inscription dated 1864 "on leaving Eton" is written on the first blank. An important and scarce history translated from the original German.

London: George Routledge, 1853. Half morocco, 6.5 inches tall. The first English edition of a famously scarce financial 'self help' work. Copac has just 1 copy in British libraries, not in B.L.. This example is in a contemporary half morocco with gilt raised bands and fine gilt panels. There is considerable rubbing and scuffing but is complete and firm.
