A pristine copy in glorious full calf by Root with gilt raised bands, triple labels and wonderful gilt centre tools indicative of our heroes dissolute adventures in London, playing cards, Champagne bottles and dancers. The boards are framed within gilt corner tools and triple fillets. Gilt dentelles and all edges. Embellished with all 36 hand coloured aquatints from designs by Robert Cruikshank.

A fabulous full morocco by Wood with gilt raised bands, superb gilt tooling to the panels and boards representing the gambling and fighting to be found in the text. Fine gilt dentelles and top edge. The armorial bookplate of Charles Tuller Garland and a pictorial bookplate. Embellished with 36 comic hand-coloured aquatints by George Cruikshank and 3 folding pages of songs. With 8 pages of adverts bound in. Some finger marks but still a super copy of the rollicking adventures of three young gentlemen enjoying life in the Metropolis.

With gilt raised bands, ornate floral gilt tooling to the panels, triple gilt fillet framing the boards, wide gilt dentelles and all edges gilt. With 36 hand coloured aquatints by I.R. and George Cruikshank and 3 folding pages of songs. Some offsetting from the plates. The images illustrate the hilarious and bawdy adventures of Jerry and his companions in London. A superb volume.

London: Hunter; Baldwin et al., 1825. 14 volume set, 6.5 inches tall. A lovely set in full straight grain morocco with gilt raised bands and extra gilt panels. The boards are framed with gilt and blind rolls, so typical of bindings of this period. All edges gilt. This is a scarce first collected edition (Sadleir 784- "of extreme scarcity"). Engraved vignette on all title pages. Maria Edgeworth was a highly prolific writer of adult and children's literature and very influential in the development of the English novel.

A splendid later binding by Riviere with gilt raised bands, stunning gilt tooling to the panels and triple gilt fillets framing the boards. Some expert minor paper restoration done at the time of this sumptuous binding Gilt dentelles and top edge. 'A new edition, considerably enlarged and improved'. Illustrated with 3 colour plates and numerous black and white plates and vignettes.

Bristol: W. Richardson, 1828. Full blue calf, 5 1/2 inches tall. A delightful William IV diced calf on a very scarce title, we could only locate 2 examples of any edition in institutions. This copy is in remarkable condition with gilt raised bands, blind centre tool framed with gilt corner tools and a darker blue label. The dicing on the boards is framed within an ornate little gilt fillet. Bristol imprint. With the neat ink inscription "Mary Ann Marks. Aug. 1828 á Jesse" on the second blank. A little foxing on the engraved title page, otherwise clean. Some neat pencil underlining and highlighting.

Delft et Leiden: Beman et Samuel Luchtmans, 1729. Full morocco, 8.5 inches tall. A glorious binding by Clarke & Bedford with gilt raised bands, superb gilt tooling around a pomegranate centre tool, dentelles quadruple gilt fillet framing the boards. All edges gilt over marble. Engraved frontispiece and title page. A superb copy of these dialogues on many and various subjects, hugely influential on Christian Humanists, by the greatest scholar of the northern Renaissance. In the original Latin.

London: Henry Colburn & Co., 1857. 4 volume set, 7 3/4 inches tall. A superb mid-Victorian full calf 'Divinity' binding. With the distinctive blind tooled fillets and pallets incorporating the 'Aldine' leaf. Twin labels and the usual pink edges. Portrait. Some offsetting to the title page, otherwise clean and bright. A fine set of the second most famous 17th century diary.

London: Henry G. Bohn, 1862. 4 volume set, 7 1/4 inches tall. A neat little set in half calf with gilt raised bands, twin labels and fine floral gilt tooling to the panels. the spines are somewhat fade but are still bright. An attractive set, profusely illustrated with engraved views and portraits, of this great 17th century diary, first published in 1818.

Philadelphia & London: Lippincott, 1926. Full morocco with slipcase, 10 inches tall. A luxurious binding by Sangorski & Sutcliffe Zaehnsdorf with gilt raised bands, twin labels, gilt tooled panels, gilt dentelles and watered silk doublures. All edges gilt. With leather trimmed and felt lined slipcase. Still the classic work on the fascinating history of English inns in extraordinary binding.

London: Colburn and Bentley, 1831. 2 volume set, 8 1/2 inches tall. Full early Victorian full calf with gilt raised bands, twin olive labels and exceptionally fine gilt tooling to the panels. The boards are marked and scuffed but with no splitting. A rather splendid, though somewhat worn set of this important and scarce work.

London: Harding, Triphook, and Lepard, 1824. 3 volume set, 8 inches tall. A neat Georgian half calf with gilt bands, bold labels and blind centre tools. Pink speckled edges. This work was originally published in 3 volumes, as here, which were then extended to many more volumes over the following years. Engraved frontispiece and 2 folding plates. Some offsetting, otherwise clean. With the bookplate of Vane Londonderry. From the library of Charles William Vane (formerly Stewart), third Marquess of Londonderry. Vane served with distinction throughout the Peninsula War. His dashing and dandified portrait by Sir Thomas Lawrence is at the National Portrait Gallery. He amassed magnificent libraries in his various Country Houses.

London: Hodder & Stoughton, 1921. Full morocco, 10 inches tall. A striking binding by Zaehnsdorf with gilt raised bands, blind pallets, elaborate gilt centre tooling to the panels. Triple gilt fillets frame the ornate gilt tooled device on the boards. Wide gilt dentelles and all edges. Silk endpapers. Illustrated throughout with images of the Prince's tours of the Empire.

London: Hughes, (1819). 4 volume set, 5 inches tall. Most attractive set in half Regency calf with gilt bands, twin labels and delicate blind tooling to the panels. Containing 21 plays, each with separate title page and frontispiece. 38 'embellishments'. From the Library and with the bookplate of Robert J. Hayhurst. Pink bookseller's ticket. A rare item.

London: John Murray, 1855. 2 volume set, 8 inches tall. A superb Victorian full calf with gilt raised bands, twin labels and fine gilt tooling to the panels. Illustrated with over 100 line engravings.

London: Johnson, 1791. Full calf, 5.5 inches tall. A charming little volume bound in full calf with gilt bands, label and fine gilt tooling to the panels. Red speckled edges. A fascinating work describing the ailments and cures of the day.

London: Bickers & Son, 1893. Full calf, 8 3/4 inches tall. A fine late Victorian full calf with gilt raised bands, ornate gilt tooling to the panels and a gilt block on the upper board. An unusual title in a Scottish presentation binding! Bookplates of the Angus Club and Dundee High School. With 12 Illustrations of English derring do, not for the politically delicate.

Cambridge: University Press, 1922. Full morocco, 6.5 inches tall. A very handsome binding by Bumpus with raised bands, simple gilt and inked tooling framing the panels and boards. Dentelles and all edges gilt. A superb little copy of this verse anthology.
