London: James Burns, 1843. Full Morocco, 8 1/2 inches tall. A spectacular binding by Rivière & Son with gilt raised bands and extra gilt tooling with a stylized cross within a cartouche repeated on the panels and the boards within a series of gilt fillets and rolls. Gilt dentelles and all edges. From the collection of Robin de Beaumont and with his bookplate. An ink inscription regarding a Church Dedication Festival, dated 1884, on the paste down endpaper. Unpaginated, black letter text, printed in red and black, decorative floral criblé border to each page throughout. James Burns was a distinguished bookseller in Manchester and then London celebrated for his illustrated books. An extremely attractive copy in fine condition.

An extraordinary and magnificent full hard grain morocco by Catherall & Pritchard with gilt raised bands, ornate gilt tooling to the panels and boards, gilt dentelles and all edges gauffered. Unpaginated, including facsimile title page and colophon of Richard Grafton (1550), printed in red and black throughout. Ornamental initials and woodcut headbands and musical notations. Light foxing. From the library, and with the bookplate of, R.H.L.-C. de Beaumont.

Oxford: University Press, 1840. Velvet bound set, 5 inches tall. An early Victorian full bottle green velvet binding with brass edges, fully functioning clasps and engraved shields at the centre of the upper boards. All edges gilt. Delightful gilt silk 'endpapers', the paste down 'endpapers' being within velvet doublures. No inscriptions and in pristine condition inside and out. The blind tooled leather box is also in remarkably fine condition.

This would appear to refer to General Robert Melvill, inventor of the carronade and Governor of Guadeloupe. A superb set of Bishop Horne's most celebrated work. A beautiful little devotional work in straight grain morocco with gilt raised bands, finely gilt tooled panels, dentelles and all edges. The boards are framed with gilt and blind rolls and corner tooling. Watered silk endpapers. A neat ink inscription dated 1836 and a blind armorial stamp are found on the first blank. This Breviary of the Laity is used in Western Christianity for praying the canonical hours.
