With raised bands, the armorial devices of the great bibliophile Theodore Williams and all edges gilt. With 7 engraved plates, 2 folding and 3 folding plates of 'Pedigrees'.

There are signs of usage but the binding, other than very minor signs of rubbing, is in excellent condition.

A beautiful little Georgian binding with gilt raised bands, twin labels and gilt and blind tooling to the panels and framing the boards. A finely printed pair of volumes, bound in one, embellished with three engraved plates, an engraved title page and frontispiece. From the library of Charles William Vane (formerly Stewart), third Marquess of Londonderry. Vane served with distinction throughout the Peninsula War. His dashing and dandified portrait by Sir Thomas Lawrence is at the National Portrait Gallery. He amassed magnificent libraries in his various Country Houses.
