London: Longman and Rees, 1803. 3 volumes set, 8 1/2 inches tall. A handsome full Georgian 'Russia' calf with wide gilt bands, delicate gilt centre tools and twin fillets framing the boards. With the armorial bookplate of Lord Kinnaird of Rossie Priory. The binder has tooled III onto the spine of volume I, and I onto the spine of volume III. Engraved plates. Some rubbing and foxing to the preliminaries. A fine set of the first collected works of the tragic 18th century poet Thomas Chatterton, who after a life of poverty and genius, committed suicide in despair at the age of 17.

London: Rivington et al., 1815. 3 volume set, 8 3/4 inches tall. A rather splendid Regency full 'Russia' calf binding with gilt raised bands and dense blind tooling to the panels. A gilt fillet and wide blind roll frame the boards. Rubbing to the shoulders but perfectly firm. This scarce work was 'intended as an accompaniment to Dr. Russell's History of Modern Europe'. A bright and clean set in a classic Regency binding.

London: William Pickering, 1844. 3 volume set, 6 1/2 inches tall. A smart, good looking full mid Victorian calf with gilt raised bands, twin labels and gilt tooling to the panels. The boards are framed with double gilt and single blind fillets and the gilt embossed prize stamp of Rugby School on the upper boards. A little grubby and rubbed but overall a fine set. With 2 armorial bookplates and an ink inscription on each title page reading: '4th Comp (?) Prize H. R. Scott Xmas 1848 Rugby. A handsome set of this celebrated collection of essays by one of England's great poets.
