A very finely bound set in full Regency 'Russia' calf with twin gilt raised bands and superb gilt and blind tooling to the panels and boards, so typical of the period. The celebrated image by Joshua Reynolds serves as frontispiece, which is offset onto the title page, otherwise a fabulous set in pristine condition of possibly the greatest of all biographies.

With gilt raised bands, labels, fine and ornate gilt tooling to the panels and triple gilt fillets framing a 'Cambridge Panel' on the boards. Gilt top edges, the remainder deckled. Minor rubbing and marking. Edited by Geoffrey Keynes. Though neglected in his life time he has become probably the most influential English romantic poets. Blake's poetry, painting and printmaking exert a powerful influence to the present day.

There has been some loss to the foot of the fourth volume due to ancient water damage. This has not affected the text nor taken away the overall splendid look of the set.

A nasty scuff on the fore corner of the 3rd series but still a super set of first editions of this fantastical work.
