A nasty scuff on the fore corner of the 3rd series but still a super set of first editions of this fantastical work.

A beautiful little 17th century binding with gilt raised bands, label and extra gilt diced tooling to the panels and very fine ornate gilt tooling to the boards. All edges gilt. Includes, on the last 3 leaves, 'Pinax martyriõn' (passages from the Old Testament). This edition was, according to Darlow and Moule, based on the Greek of Beza's third major edition with notable emendations from Stephanus's second edition. According to Dibdin this is 'One of the most beautiful specimens of Greek typography ever exhibited: the text is in very small but distinct characters'. A lovely little volume, inside and out.
