A remarkably beautiful binding by Zaehnsdorf with gilt raised bands, twin olive labels and dense, ornate gilt tooling with green calf onlays to the panels and boards. Wide and ornate gilt dentelles. All edges gilt. Extra-illustrated with a further 30 plates. 'An Essay on some of the Characteristics of Reynolds as a Designer, with especial Reference to his Portraiture of Children'. With the bookplate of Chippenham Lodge. A charming work in sparkling condition.

Splendid panels have been constructed with gilt and blind tooling to the boards, so typical of the period. Gilt dentelles and all edges. Watered-silk end papers. With the armorial bookplate of Frederick H. Dutton of Sherborne House. There is a neat previous owner's name in ink on the title pages. Embellished with 150 engraved plates. A very fine set.

With gilt raised bands, twin labels and fabulous gilt tooling to the panels and boards. Gilt top edge and dentelles. With the bookplate of Alfred de Rothschild. Some slight foxing to the preliminaries but in fine condition. Illustrated with photographs in the text and then with 100 superb plates, many sepia and with 7 in colour. A sumptuous record of the Golden Age of French furniture when some of the finest and most refined pieces were ever created, in a fabulous binding from the library of a great connoisseur.

Slight blotchiness on the labels and boards, overall a wonderful volume of one of Dublin born, Anna Brownell Jameson's, great art histories.

A wonderful full crushed morocco binding by Riviere with gilt raised bands, very fine gilt tooling to the panels and with triple gilt fillets framing the boards. Gilt dentelles and top edges. With the armorial bookplates of W.H. Lever of Thornton Manor, Sir W. Hesketh Lever, Bart. and Baron, Lord Leverhulme of Bolton-Le Moors, all one and the same and the founder of 'Port Sunlight'. This beautiful set has an extra 89 plates, 34 hand-coloured, bound in, some particularly interesting ones, including Mr. Kean as Richard and as Count Bertram and 2 box tickets for His Majesty's Theatre. A unique set in pristine condition.

A splendid tall set in full hard grain morocco by Clarke & Bedford, one of the greatest names of the period. With gilt raised bands and very fine extra gilt tooling to the panels. Gilt fillets, and superb gilt tooling with corner devices frame the boards. Gilt dentelles and all edges. With the bookplates of William Strahan and Alfred de Rothschild. This celebrated edition has the plates in 2 states, with the proofs laid down on india paper. Slight foxing but overall a fine set of this great edition.
