A very accomplished full calf by the great firm of Bedford with gilt raised bands, extra gilt to the panels, a double fillet framing the boards and all edges gilt. The bookplate of Rissa. Some fading. An engraved title page and 5 further full page engravings.

London: Wenman and Hodgson, 1791. 4 volumes bound in 1, 5 1/4 inches tall. A slightly later half calf with wide gilt raised bands, blind pallets and label typical of the 1820's. Engraved frontispiece to volumes 1 and 3 opposite which is some degree of foxing, otherwise clean. A charming edition of the works of this tragic English satirist and poet.

A revised and enlarged edition in fine full calf by Truslove and Hanson with gilt raised bands and a splendid gilt flower bud on a cream calf onlay to the spine and boards. Gilt dentelles and all edges. A great anthology "selected from the best songs and lyrical poems in the English language".

A delightful little early Victorian full calf binding with gilt raised bands, contrasting green label, elegant gilt tooling to the panels and blind scales within a series of fillets. London: J. F. Dove, c.1835. 4 volumes bound in 1, 5 inches tall. A delightful early Victorian half calf binding with red label and dense gilt tooling to the smooth back. 2 engraved frontispieces and title pages, each covering 2 volumes.

London: The Literary Association, 1796. Full Calf, 5 1/2 inches tall. Two volumes bound in one. A lovely little 18th century tree calf binding with gilt bands, contrasting red label and interesting gilt centre tools. Yellow edges. Ink inscription, dated 1887, on the first blank. Engraved portrait. A charming copy of this extraordinary work.

London: Bickers & Son, 1903. Full calf, 7 1/2 inches tall. A splendid full tree calf by Bickers with gilt raised bands, twin labels and delicate gilt tooling to the panels. A gilt fillet frames the boards, the upper of which has a handsome gilt prize block. On the first blank is a neat prize bookplate dated 1923. Light foxing particularly on the title page. Twenty of Shakespeare's most popular plays are summarised by Charles and Mary Lamb, several of which are illustrated.

London: Cadell, 1796. Full calf, 6 inches tall. A beautiful little late 18th century speckled calf with gilt bands, twin labels and delightful gilt tooling to the panels. Decorated with 2 engraved plates.

London: Cooke, 1805. Full roan, 5 1/2 inches tall. A delightful little Georgian binding with gilt bands, floral centre tools and green label. Slightly rubbed and small loss of leather on the lower board next to the shoulder. Engraved frontispiece and two tail pieces.

London: Allen & Unwin, 1925. Full Calf, 8 1/2 inches tall. A sparkling tree calf by Bickers with gilt raised bands, contrasting twin labels and fine gilt tooling to the panels. A gilt roll frames the gilt prize block. Eton prize bookplate. A splendid copy of this great American history.

The diced boards are framed within gilt fillets and blind and gilt rolls. A charming and neat inscription, dated 1822 is to be found on the reverse of the free end paper and a neat ink former owner's name on the first blank. With five fine engraved plates. A little superficial loss to the lower board, otherwise in splendid condition.

London: T. Murphy, 1839. 2 volume set, 5 inches tall. A good looking early Victorian half calf with gilt raised bands, twin labels and ornate gilding to the panels. Engraved frontispiece and title page to both volumes. A neat set of the great work of this German author and theologian, an influence in his day, most famously on Beethoven.

London: Vernor and Hood et al., 1800. Half morocco, 7 1/4 inches tall. An elegant volume bound by J. Soulby of Ulverston and with their ticket. With gilt raised bands, unusual orange marbled paper on the boards and gilt sunburst centre tools. With delicate engraved plates some of which are stained. An interesting provincial binding of a neat edition of the poetry of this influential English poet of the 18th century. With a life by Dr. Johnson.

London: Bickers & Son, 1893. Full calf, 8 3/4 inches tall. A fine late Victorian full calf with gilt raised bands, ornate gilt tooling to the panels and a gilt block on the upper board. An unusual title in a Scottish presentation binding! Bookplates of the Angus Club and Dundee High School. With 12 Illustrations of English derring do, not for the politically delicate.

Viriae: Apud. G. Adam, 1820. Full morocco, 5 1/2 inches. A splendid little binding with gilt bands, finely tooled panels, gilt fillets framing the boards and all edges gilt. With the bookplate of the great collector Robert J. Hayhurst. In the original Latin.

Napoli: Gio. Batista, 1818. Full Vellum, 6 1/2 inches tall, A charming Italian 'rustic' full velum from the early 19th century with gilt framed painted labels and blue speckled edges. In Italian.

London: Bickers, 1885. Full calf, 8.5 inches tall. A very handsome binding with gilt raised bands, label, finely gilt tooling around a striking anchor centre tool. With a Rugby school gilt prize block on the upper board and prize bookplate. 10 plates. A stirring account of the adventures of Admiral Blake, one of the greatest English military commanders of the 17th century, in a very smart binding.

Portrait. Ink prize inscription , dated 1893, on the first blank. A neat copy of the single volume edition of the stirring tales of battles and sieges leading to Napoleon's defeat in 1814 in the Iberian Peninsula, regarded as one of the first wars of liberation.

The prize gilt block of Wellington College on the upper board and prize bookplate on front paste down. With 14 full page illustrations.
