A series of blind and gilt fillets and rolls frame the boards. With the armorial bookplate of Benj. Philpot Chr. Coll. Cant. Soc. , the neat ink inscription 'Gustavus Wulff from B. Philpot 1832' on the first blank and a partly obscured neat ink inscription at the head of the title page. Some rubbing and marking but still an interesting binding.

With gilt raised bands, triple labels, fine gilt floral tooling to the panels, a fine gilt roll framing the tree calf on the boards, dentelles and all edges gilt. With an armorial gilt prize block on the boards and prize label on the pastedown end paper. A charming anthology of Engllish verse in a pristine tree calf.

Paris: Hardouin, 1784. 2 volume set, 5 inches tall. A very simple yet good looking full calf with gilt bands, twin olive labels and tiny floral centre tools. All edges gilt. With the bookseller's ticket 'Vendu par DETREZ Libraire, place Sorbonne, No 4 a Paris'. The first volume consists of 'Poésies érotiques' and 'Voyage', the second volume of 'La journée champêtre', 'Le promontroire de Leucade', Les fleurs', and 'Mélange'. With exquisite engraved plates.

A delightful Regency full calf binding with gilt and inked bands, delicate gilt tooling to the panels and gilt and blind fillets framing the diced boards. Armorial bookplate of Sarah Phillott. Embellished with 8 charming engraved plates illustrative of young Gilbert's rural amatory adventures. This is a superb copy of this scarce work.

London: Rivington et al., 1824. Full calf, 5 inches tall. A delightful little Georgian full calf binding with gilt bands and elaborate gilt panels and an ornate gilt fillet framing 'PRIZE' on the upper board. The armorial bookplate of Thomas Clugas. Engraved frontispiece and title page. Some rubbing to the binding but no splitting or loss. Containing 'A Life of Virgil', 'Pastoral', 'The Georgics', and 'The Aeneid'. Publius Vergilius Maro, known as Virgil in English was an ancient Roman poet of the Augustan period and this English translation by Dryden is still considered the best.

London: The Religious Tract Society, 1836. Full Calf, 4 inches tall. A tiny and delightful devotional work in a charming early Victorian binding with gilt raised bands, label and superb extra gilt panels. With the neat ink former owner's inscription 'Mary Ann Ashley, January 1840.

A neat ink inscription, dated Christmas 1909, is to be found on the reverse of the front pastedown endpaper. With 24 plates illustrating this retelling of these 2000 year old epic Roman tales.

London: John Reeves, c.1835. Full morocco, 5.5 inches tall. A superb and very unusual little binding with raised bands elaborately tooled panels and board in ink, a most uncommon style in the 1830's. All edges gilt. Slight foxing to the preliminaries, a lengthy ink inscription on the second blank and the name 'Mary Wheatley' on the half title.

Paris, 1896. Half calf, 10 inches tall. With superb gilt tooling on the spine involving vine leaves and a devils head, gilt top edge. This famous special number of La Plume of 15th June 1896 is dedicated to Felicien Rops. It is profusely illustrated throughout. A beautiful copy of this famous edition.
