They are peppered with the slang of the time and the underworld subculture in which he moved and are also replete with private jokes and full of the names of real people, rich men, royal officials, lawyers, prostitutes, and policemen, from medieval Paris.

Beautifully uniformly bound by the great firm of Zaehnsdorf in full calf at the end of the 19th century with gilt raised bands, triple red labels and superb floral gilt tools to the panels. Twin gilt fillets and corner tools frame the boards. Gilt dentelles and yellow edges. With the bookplates of Fitz Roy Keith Chapman and Beeleigh Abbey.
