With gilt raised bands, triple labels and wonderful gilt tooling to the panels and boards. Gilt dentelles and top edges. From the library of Alfred de Rothschild but without his bookplate. Slight rubbing and light foxing, overall fine. This Deluxe edition was limited to 200 copies of which this is number 152. The introduction is printed on heavy hand-made paper and is deckled, the leaves of plates and their descriptions are trimmed. The volumes are arranged thus: Volume I, with 22 plates, is devoted to the reign of Louis XIV, Volume II, with 71 plates to the Regency and the reign of Louis XV, Volume III, with 69 plates to the reign of Louis XVI. Making a total of 162 plates. A sumptuous record of the Golden Age of French furniture when some of the finest and most refined pieces were ever created, in a fabulous binding from the library of a great connoisseur. A rare set of this great edition.
