BASKERVILLE PRINTING IN FULL 18TH CENTURY MOROCCO

COMOEDIAE

Birmingham: John Baskerville, 1772. Full morocco, 12 inches tall. A handsome, tall 18th century full morocco binding with gilt raised bands, splendid gilt tooling to the panels and triple gilt fillets framing the boards. All edges gilt. The head cap is damaged and there is a one inch split on the head of the upper board but still solid and good looking. Foxing to the preliminaries. A small neat ink inscription on the title page reads 'Given to Lord Rancliffe (of Bunny Hall) by the Rev. W. Cocker (?) 1806'. A handsome example of this great work by the second century B.C. Roman playwright in one of Baskerville's great printings.
