A scarce edition with 2 superb little packed with hilarious detail by Thomas Rowlandson. The binding is slightly rubbed and scuffed. Published in the year of Sterne's death, 1768, 'A Sentimental Journey' was hugely popular and has remained in print ever since. Partly written in answer to Tobias Smollett's 'Travels Through France and Italy', Sterne found Smollett highly objectionable and caricatures him as Smelfungus.
