Paris: Barbou, 1754. 3 volume set, 6 1/4 inches tall. A scarce and beautiful set in mid 18th century French crushed morocco. With gilt bands, twin olive labels and delicate floral gilt tooling to the panels. Triple gilt fillets and corner tools frame the boards. All edges gilt. Embellished with 16 engraved full page plates, including 2 frontispieces, as called for. A superb set of the works of the great Roman poet, responsible for the Eclogues or Bucolics, the Georgics, and the epic Aeneid, here in the original Latin.
