The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire.
London: Priestley et al., 1821. 8 volume set, 8.75 inches tall. An unusual and most attractive Georgian binding with wide gilt raised bands, twin labels and very delicate, lace like, tooling to the panels incorporating gilt fan corner tooling which is repeated on the volume label. A wide blind roll runs up the calf where it turns over the boards, a feature seldom seen. A new edition with portrait and maps. A little fading to the spines and offsetting from the portrait but a clean neat set in excellent condition of this great history.
