A very handsome run in a classic Victorian full calf with gilt raised bands, twin labels, ornate gilt tooling to the panels and a gilt prize block on the boards and a prize bookplate of Trinity College, Oxford. The title page states that this set, The Edinburgh Edition', consists of 10 volumes yet these 8 volumes appear complete, consisting 'The History of England', 'The Essays', 'Speeches', 'Lays of Ancient Rome', 'Miscellaneous Poems' and concludes with 'The Index'.
