Full calf, 12.5 inches tall. Very interesting full calf binding by J. R. Haslam of Nottingham with the label framed by splendid gilt tooling on the spine and the boards decorated with gilt and blind tooling. The binder's stamp, unusually for England is on the tail of the spine in the French style. Illustrated profusely with full page colour and monochrome plates and with vignettes in the text. Some foxing on the plates and adjacent leaves. Ink owner's inscription on the blank. A splendid copy.
