4 volume set, 8.5 inches tall. Very fine full tree calf with gilt bands, splendid gilt panels and enthusiastically tooled labels, typical of the best binders of this period. Gilt rolls frame the tree calf boards. Some foxing to the portraits, offset onto the title pages. Slight cracking to the joints and chipping to the headcaps but still a great set of this important work.
