SPECTATOR.
The Spectator.
SPLENDID 18TH CENTURY FULL VELLUM.
London: Tonson and Draper, n.d. ( 1750 ).
8 volume set, 7 inches tall. A very lovely full vellum binding with turquoise gilt titles and simple blue double fillet on the boards. A neat owners inscription from 1780 on the reverse pastedowns, foxing on the blanks and slight soiling to the boards. There is a nick on the spine of the eighth volume, perhaps a thorn prick, that appears to have been on the original skin rather than later damage. A very unusual and attractive set.
