twin red and green labels. Charming floral tooling to
the panels, gilt raised bands. Gilt roll framing royal
armorial centre tool on upper boards. Gilt outer edges,
blind dentelles, marbled edges and endpapers. Two
scratches and a small bump to the corner on the upper
board of volume 1. A lovely set.
Macaulay's first article was published in Edinburgh
Review in 1825 and he subsequently became a mainstay of
the magazine. His career also included stints as an
English Whig politician, essayist, poet and historian.
In addition to his best known work, History of England,
this collection includes numerous essays, speeches and
poems.
