A very handsome set bound by top London binder, Ramage. Froude was a leading nineteenth century English historian and man of letters. This diverse collection of his work includes Leaves from a South African Journal, The Oxford Counter Reformation and an article of the Book of Job. The first series of these Studies appeared in 1867, the second in 1871, the third in 1877, and the fourth in 1883.
