3 vols., small 8vo (7.5" tall). Half blue calf. Twin red labels, wide gilt raised bands, gilt tooling to panels. Marbled boards, edges and endpapers. Armorial bookplate of Cholmeley, Brandsby. Slightly worn at extremities.
FIRST EDITION, in a pretty Regency binding. Although initially greeted with a distinct lack of enthusiasm, the very considerable merits of Scott's Quentin Durward were later widely recognized after a rapturous reception in France.
